As Horace explains, his wife Nani will "graduate" (ʻuniki) as a kumu hula in January, and this mele by Rev. Dennis Kamakahi was a signature song for her hālau, Nā Pualei O Likolehua under the direction of the late Leinaʻala Kalama Heine, who often danced with the Brothers Cazimero, who recorded this very well-known and beloved mele.
