I first heard this song 3 nights ago Dec 27th) sung by John Pizzarelli and immediately thought I ought to learn it! I’m afraid it’s a bit rough around the edges but I love learning new stuff and dislike rehearsing too much.
Robert Burns wrote the ultimate New Year Song in 1788 (think of the royalties!?).
This one could be considered an alternative altho’ the writer Frank Loesser didn’t see it as such and was annoyed when it appeared on seasonal albums. He wrote it in 1947 it as a boy meets girl song maybe they met around April in a year and he/she looked ahead and wondered if they would still be together on New Year’s Eve hence the question: What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?
